Jun 30, 2009 - 10:32 AM - by antoninus9 | While the eyes of the Masonic world are focused on the racial discrimination in the Grand Lodge of Georgia, they continue to turn a blind eye to the blatant sexism throughout the Grand Lodges in the United States. As of today only the Grand Orients of France and the United States recognize the legitimacy and equality of female Freemasons and mixed obedience Masonic bodies.
The state Grand Lodges continue to label women Masons as "irregular", "illegitimate", and "clandestine". Several of these same Grand Lodges also label the primarily African American Prince Hall Grand Lodges in the same way.
If we are to learn anything from the present situation in Georgia it is that all Freemasons, whether black, red, yellow, or female, are our equals in every way. They deserve the same honor and respect that is afforded to every Antient Grand Lodge Mason. How else can Freemasonry talk about the brotherhood of all mankind with integrity and credibility?
As early as the 1880's the Grand Orient of France began a campaign to eliminate racism and sexism from Freemasonry. That was 130 years ago! The Grand Orient of the United States has always recognized all Masons as equal, and opened its doors to people of all races. When will our Antient brothers in the Grand Lodge system do the same?
Today I challenge each American Mason, whether Antient or Modern, to work with me to abolish all forms of racial and sexual discrimination in Freemasonry, and to form a new Masonic union that unites all American Freemasons together as one true brotherhood.

Jun 21, 2009 - 11:46 PM - by D. W. Brown | Neda Soltani died Saturday in Tehran while attending the demonstrations with her music teacher. Video, just before her senseless killing, showed her standing quietly on the street watching the events unfold. Only minutes later she lay lifeless on the street, immortalized forever as the face and rallying cry for a generation demanding democracy in Iran.
We send our condolences to Neda's family and our support to them and all who stand in the face of tyranny and shout:
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

May 29, 2009 - 1:29 PM - by D. W. Brown | Carla Bruni has issued a scathing attack on Pope Benedict XVI saying that she has allowed her Catholic faith to lapse because of his approach to contraception in Africa.
France's First Lady said that the Church's teachings had left her feeling "profoundly secular".
She departed from her post's traditional religious neutrality to accuse the Pope of "damaging" countries in Africa with his stance on birth control.
The Italian-born former supermodel risked angering believers in France and beyond by declaring that the Pontiff's proclamations showed that the Church needed to "evolve".
In March, the Pope sparked controversy while on an Africa tour by saying that the AIDs pandemic which has crippled the continent "can't be resolved with the distribution of condoms; on the contrary, there is the risk of increasing the problem". Read Original Article Here |
