Rings

Good day all,

I am in the petition stage. I was wondering what is the acceptable protocol for wearing the Masonic ring. I have one from my grandfather and want to make sure I wear it at the appropriate time. When I was 18, I wore it and was told I should not since I was not a Mason. I am now 37 and on the path to Masonry.

Thanks

Manny

Re: Rings

Bro Manny,

Wait a little longer until you are raised to Master Mason, not because it is wrong or your intent was to take something you have not earned, because most likely you mean to honor your Grandfather (I use my Great Grandfathers Masonic Sword). But wait because the meaning of the ring will be much more important to you when you have attained the goal.

If you are married you may ask your wife to hold it and present it after your raising. If you are not, you may ask someone else who is special to you.

Best of luck.

S&F,

Re: Rings

Thank you so much. I figured as much. I like the idea of my wife presenting it to me. I have been married 16 Years, her grandfather was a Mason as well as many of her family members. Her grandmother is also going to send us some of my wife's grandfathers Mason things.

Again thanks for the response.

Manny

Perhaps something could be arranged, where your wife can present it in front of your bretheren on the night.
Let them all share your very special night.

Re: Rings

if you want to have something meaningful once you are accepted, but prior to moving to Master Mason, I highly recommend getting a Lewis Jewel.

It has your name and your Grandfathers name on it. You can wear it as an Apprentice, Fellow and for the rest of your days. AND, most jurisdictions now recognize it as acceptable ornamentation to wear in Lodge.
